Genres

The Genres view lists every genre in your library with album and song counts. For genres with two or more albums, a 3×3 collage of album covers stands in for genre artwork; single-album genres show that album’s cover full-size.

For navigation, search, multi-select, ratings, and shared right-click actions, see Library Basics. For artwork panel sizing, see Artwork & Performance.

  • Name (default), Album Count, Song Count, Random

Toggle via the gear icon: Multi-select, Index, Thumbnail, Album Count, and Song Count. Everything but Multi-select defaults on. The Thumbnail toggle also controls whether nested child album rows in the genre→album expansion render their artwork.

Shift + Enter on a genre expands its albums inline. You can also click the “N albums” text on a genre row to focus and expand it directly. Only one genre can be expanded at a time; changing sort or search clears the expansion.

Search matches the genre name.

From an expanded album row:

  • N songs” text or Shift + Enter on a centered child album → Albums view with that album expanded inline at the top.
  • Album name → Albums view with that album expanded inline at the top.
  • Artist name → Artists view with that artist expanded inline at the top.

Collapse with Shift + Enter, or change sort to clear the expansion state.
