Songs

The Songs view is a flat list of every track in your library. Each row shows the album artwork, title, artist (clickable), album (clickable), duration, and an optional rating / love column.

For navigation, search, multi-select, ratings, and shared right-click actions, see Library Basics. For artwork panel sizing, see Artwork & Performance.

Songs has the most sort modes of any view:

  • Recently Added (default), Recently Played, Most Played, Favorited, Random
  • Title, Album, Artist, Album Artist
  • Release Year, Duration, BPM, Channels, Genre, Rating, Comment

The dynamic column on the right adapts to the current sort — showing the recently-added or last-played date, release year, BPM, channels, comment, or album artist. (Plays, rating, and duration have their own dedicated columns; genre shares the album slot.)

Toggle via the gear icon: Select, Index, Thumbnail, Stars, Album, Genre, Duration, Plays, and Love. Stars, Plays, and Genre auto-show when you sort by them. Genre stacks under the album when both are visible and takes over the album slot at album-size font when Album is hidden.

Search matches song titles only — it adds a title-substring filter on Navidrome’s native song endpoint, so typing radiohead finds tracks titled “Radiohead” but not tracks where Radiohead is merely the artist.

  • Artist name on a row → Artists view with that artist expanded inline at the top.
  • Album name on a row → Albums view with that album expanded inline at the top.
  • Genre on a row → Genres view with that genre expanded inline.

Songs loads pages on demand as you scroll. For libraries over ~100k tracks:

  • Random sort re-samples on every reload, so “Center on Playing” may jump to offset 0 if the playing track isn’t in the current sample.
  • Filtering through Artist or Album first is usually faster than scrolling Songs.
